The village of Southerndown lies on the coast of South Wales and is well-known for its large sandy beach, Dunraven Bay. The beach is separated into two by a headland where you’ll find the remains of Dunraven Castle. It’s actually the second largest sandy beach in South Wales and is both a Heritage Coast and SSSI. Explore the cliffs and hunt for fossils, enjoy the great coastal and clifftop walks or bring your surfboard and ride the great waves here. There’s even a surf school if you’re a novice! With the M4 10 miles away and all of the attractions of Cardiff and Swansea just 45 minutes away by car, Southerndown is a great central location for exploring the South Wales area.
