The Dairy sits on the former milking yard, adjacent to its ‘twin’, The Milking Parlour (WAY233). This pair of cottages is ideal for two couples wishing to holiday together, but with a degree of privacy; the living room in each cottage will comfortably accommodate four, for shared dining and socialising. The cottages are part of a group situated on an historic former farm, originally the estate serving Margam Abbey. The farm buildings are Grade II listed and in part date back to medieval times. Margam Country Park, with the Go Ape treetop visitor attraction, are situated a few minutes’ drive from the cottage. Walkers, conservationists, nature lovers and birdwatchers will love the Kenfig National Nature Reserve, within walking distance of the cottage. Local facilities – pub, shop etc – can be found in the neighbouring villages of North Cornelly and Pyle, and there is an Indian Restaurant just half a mile away. The many attractions of Swansea, 15 miles, and Cardiff, 29 miles, are also easily accessible by the M4, for theatre and sporting venues, marinas, shops and restaurants, museums and galleries.
This former barn is now converted into two spacious, comfortable cottages, with central heating (underfloor downstairs and radiator upstairs) and hot water provided by a biomass boiler. WiFi is available. The Dairy attractively beamed, sloping ceilings upstairs, but with good headroom. Entrance is via the former dairy yard to the front of the property and The Dairy is quite privately situated in the corner, between The Milking Parlour and The Stables.
Open Plan Living Room: on the ground floor, with three piece suite, Freeview TV, WiFi, reclaimed wooden flooring, large rug, circular pine dining table and four chairs.
Kitchen Area: fitted kitchen with gas cooker, extractor hood, microwave, fridge with 3* freezer box, well fitted, contemporary units. Door to rear patio.
A staircase rises from the living room, direct into the bedroom above.
Bedroom: with zip and link bed – can be super king size, or twin if preferred.
En Suite Shower Room: with shower cubicle, WC, basin, shaver light, heated towel rail.
Outside: A small patio area to the rear, with garden furniture. A shared laundry room on site has a washing machine. A large, shared paddock with yurt picnic benches and brick built barbecue provides an area for all guests to relax.
Parking: unloading is permitted directly outside, but parking to the front is not permitted under the property listing status; shared gravelled parking area on site.
The owners of Ty’n Cellar farm live in the farmhouse and run a small B&B in the attached barn. They keep free range hens, ducks and geese. The Dairy is one of seven holiday cottages in the converted farm buildings, along with two small meeting rooms and an office. Margam Country Park (the park entrance is 1.5 miles away), with Margam Castle, Orangery, Museum and the Go Ape treetop adventure trail provides attractions and activities for all ages and interests. Many of the stunning beaches of South Wales are within easy reach, including Porthcawl, 5 miles, Aberavon, 6.5 miles, Ogmore-by-Sea, Southerndown and Dunraven Bay 11-12 miles. The Swansea Valley provides many walks, with spectacular waterfalls, and mountain bikers can enjoy the trails of Afan Forest, 10 miles away.
