The bustling market town of Pontypridd, and Tom Jones’ birthplace, can be accessed via the route, and provides a great selection of shops, bars and restaurants. The lively city of Cardiff is just 14 miles away, for a longer shopping trip, or avid walkers will want to take advantage of the town of Merthyr Tydfil, which marks the southern boundary of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Horse riders and keen cyclists will also love the exercise opportunities here, or journey here at dusk to experience stargazing within an International Dark Sky Reserve.
