Birdie Lodge is the middle property in a row of three single storey lodges converted from the former Club House at Dolgellau Golf Club, situated in a quiet spot a mile or so above the town, with excellent walking from the door and three holes of Free Golf on site (further details below). This is an ideal base for exploring the South Snowdonia National Park, with mountain scenery, lakes and sandy beaches all within easy reach.
Entrance: the lodge is approached via a shared decking area to the front, with picnic benches; the sliding patio door leads directly into the open plan living room.
Living Room: furnished with a sofa and two armchairs, Freesat TV, WiFi, dining table and four chairs.
Kitchen Area: to the rear of the living room, comprising contemporary fitted units with built in single oven and ceramic hob with extractor hood over, microwave, fridge with 3* freezer compartment.
Bedroom: with zip and link bed, super king size (can be made up as a twin on request) and Freesat TV
En Suite: shower cubicle, WC and basin
Outside: decking and picnic bench to the front of the property, with low walls and planters providing some division of the shared decking for each lodge.
Golf: The first three holes of the golf club have been retained by the owner and are still being maintained to a high standard. There are two par 4’s and a par 3 with a practise ground which is 200 yards long. Guests staying at the Lodges and Bryn-yr-Odyn have exclusive use of the facility during their stay, free of charge. The owner is a PGA Professional and is available for lessons or guidance if you wish to play many of the fine courses in the area. This should be arranged prior to arrival.
Dog: One dog welcome at the property, but must be kept under control on site; there are plenty of nearby walks, but often livestock in the surrounding area. Please clean up after your dog both inside and outside the lodge.
Parking: shared hard-standing parking area adjacent to the row of lodges.
No children under 8; the open grounds include river access, some steep drops, heavy machinery on the golf course, etc.
Dolgellau is an historic market town situated in the Snowdonia National Park. Mountain biking and forest walking at Coed-y-Brenin is just a short drive away. Fairbourne, with sand and shingle beach, is also home to a steam railway. Nature reserves, birdwatching and fishing available nearby.
Electricity, central heating and WiFi included
Bed linen and towels provided
Birdie Lodge was a very comfortable place to stay and relax, if you are a golf lover you are right on a 3 hole golf course which is very well maintained. The lodge is very close to local amenities and Dolgellau Town, the Town we found very friendly with plenty of places to eat and drink and if you are a knitter there is a lovely wool shop which has a fantastic range of wools called Knit One. We will definitely making a return visit very soon.
