Description

Oswald's Cottage is a delightful end-terraced cottage, extended and renovated to provide a stylish holiday property in the village of Dinas Mawddwy, surrounded by wonderful mountain scenery on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park. A great base for keen walkers and climbers, and an ideal location for touring south Snowdonia’s mountains, lakes and coastline.

This deceptively spacious cottage has central heating throughout, logs provided and WiFi included, along with an excellent range of other equipment and facilities for a relaxing stay.

  • "Such a gorgeous cottage. Perfect for two couples and a dog. Lots of space, log fires were amazing and great walking advice."

Entrance Hall: with staircase to the first floor, coat hooks.

Sitting Room: with original fitted cupboards and floorboards, an open fire, sofa, armchair and tub chair. (The sofa is a sofabed for alternative sleeping arrangements, but the open fire cannot be used if the sofabed is required.) Freesat TV, DVD player, WiFi and Wii.

Dining Room: with similar original cupboards, slate flooring, wood burning stove, dining table and six chairs.

Kitchen: also with original slate flooring. A breakfast table and four chairs by the picture window gives lots of natural light. Well equipped, the kitchen includes electric oven and hob, microwave, washing machine, integrated dishwasher and integrated tall fridge with 3* freezer compartment.

Staircase: is quite narrow, and splits at the top, with some angled steps. To the right is one double bedroom, with bathroom and second bedroom off to the left.

Bedroom 1: Double, with original oak floorboards and original cast iron fireplace (non-functional).

Bathroom: spacious family bathroom with basin, WC, bath with hand shower attachment and a separate large shower cubicle with dual shower heads.

Bedroom 2: a double bedroom, with pull-out single trundle bed, suitable for a small child; note that space is extremely limited if this is used. (Guests to bring own bedding and bed linen if this bed is required.)

Outside: To the rear of the property is an outhouse providing storage for bikes etc, and a wood store - logs are provided for the wood burner and open fire. To the side of the property is a steeply sloping, rough natural garden, which extends round to the back, above the roof of the outhouse, so young children and pets will need to be supervised.

Parking: is on street, usually possible directly to the front of the cottage.

  • "Lovely, well equipped cottage perfect for exploring the surrounding area."

Dinas Mawddwy is a popular village location, with a pub, two hotels (bar and restaurant), Meirion Mill Visitor Centre with cafe and a small garden centre all within walking distance. The historic Brigands Inn pub at Mallwyd is just a mile away, with a petrol station and small convenience store just beyond. There is some excellent walking in this area, with stunning scenery on the route over the pass to Dolgellau, 10 miles to the north west, as well as picturesque riverside walks along the Dyfi valley, with the historic market town of Machynlleth 13 miles to the south west. The south Snowdonia coastline includes some lovely beaches and seaside towns, including Barmouth, Tywyn and Aberdyfi.

Electricity, central heating and logs provided

Bed linen and towels provided; bedding for sofabed available @ £25 per week

Travel cot and stairgates available; please note that the staircase is quite narrow, with a couple of half-steps at the top, turning right into one bedroom and left to the other part of the house

Mr D T,

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage, it was fabulous. The kitchen was very well equiped, the fireplaces just wonderful, the bathroom very large and modern, bedrooms were a good size and beds were very comfortable. Thank you!

Ms Claire J,

Such a gorgeous cottage. Perfect for two couples and a dog. Lots of space, log fires were amazing and great walking advice. The perfect retreat from a rather wet and windy New Year trip.
