Old Brick House is a substantial property in Bishop's Castle, Shropshire, an attractive border market town particularly popular with walkers and beer lovers; the Kerry Ridgeway, Long Mynd and Wenlock Edge provide miles of footpaths with panoramic views, and at the end of a day's walking, the town itself is a centre for Real Ale pubs and micro-breweries. Old Brick House dates back in part to the 16th century, was originally two separate dwellings but has more recently been a Guest House. It therefore provides comfortable and spacious accommodation for 14 people, in six en suite bedrooms/suites.

On arriving at Old Brick House, you will find parking for approximately six cars, some to the rear and some alongside the property on a gated driveway. The enclosed rear garden is on two levels - ground level patio areas with garden furniture and chimenea,  and up a flight of stone steps is a raised lawned area with mature trees and shrubs. The house has two comfortable sitting rooms, one with a woodburning stove, and the other with Freeview TV and DVD player; there is also WiFi, books and games. The dining room has a large table to seat up to 10, with two smaller side tables for additional guests. The fitted kitchen is well equipped with an electric Rangemaster range cooker and additional electric oven/grill, a large fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher, as well as a breakfast table and chairs.

There are seven bedrooms in Old Brick House, all named after trees. Fir is a ground floor bedroom with zip and link beds for a choice of  super king or twin beds. The first floor rooms are situated up two separate staircases. To one side of the house is Elm, a king size bedroom, and a family suite comprising of Ash, a zip and link twin or super king size room, and Pine, a twin room, with interconnecting door and shared en suite shower room. The other three bedrooms are situated up a second staircase, in the older part of the house. Oak, Willow and Birch are each furnished with zip and link twin or super king size beds. Please stipulate bed/linen requirements at the time of booking. All bedrooms, except for Pine, have a hairdryer.

This is an excellent location for those wishing to explore the Marches borderlands; Shrewsbury is 22 miles away, with castle and Montgomery, 9.5 miles Welshpool, 17 miles and Ludlow, 20 miles. The Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre and Stokesay Castle at Craven Arms are 11-12 miles away. Bishop's Castle has a range of interesting shops, pubs and eating places, all within walking distance, as well as a swimming pool at the local leisure centre.

Electricity included; central heating included April to September and additional charge of £25 per week from October to March; an initial basket of logs is provided

Bed linen provided; towels available @ £3 per person

Really liked the property, comfortable, warm and cosy. Good hot showers and comfortable beds. Excellent location.

Mrs Freda G,

The house is in a great location and was spacious and comfortable. Perfect for our party of ten. It's well-equipped and the log fire makes staying here in the autumn a particular pleasure.

Mrs Lynne G,
