This characterful converted barn is just outside the Carmarthenshire village of Ffairfach, and boasts fabulous views across the Towy Valley. The property sleeps five guests and is the perfect rural retreat for couples and families looking to switch off and relax. Set on the edge of the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to nearby walks. The vibrant market town of Llandeilo is just 1.5 miles away.
The barn conversion, which is an annexe of the owner’s property, is bursting with original features, including exposed beams and stonework. The warm and welcoming ground floor has an open-plan layout, comprising a lounge/kitchen/diner. Stunning, floor-to-ceiling arched windows look out across the garden, creating a tranquil haven in which to unwind. Spend time trying new recipes in the kitchen area, sharing meals around the dining table, or watching TV in the cosy lounge area by the window. The charming single bedroom and the double are located on the ground floor, along with the shower room. A steep staircase leads to the king-size bedroom in the eaves (you may experience restricted head height in some areas). This room can be made up as a twin on request. Outside, a vast garden awaits, with a lawn, wooded areas, and a pond, as well as a BBQ and furniture for al fresco dining.
Llandeilo is, undoubtedly, one of Wales’s prettiest towns, with its colourful cottages and historic buildings. Quirky shops and independent boutiques line its centre, and you’ll also find a great range of eateries. Dinefwr National Trust (2.5 miles) makes an excellent day out; visit the historic Newton House, followed by a stroll around the 18th-century deer park. Another nearby attraction is the National Botanic Garden of Wales (9.5 miles), featuring the world’s largest single-span glasshouse.
