When it’s time to discover the wider area, keen hikers can make a beeline for the Black Mountain range (9 miles) or tackle the tallest peak in the Brecons, Pen y Fan (14.5 miles). Brecon (10.5 miles) is a lovely town famous for its Georgian architecture and is where the rivers Usk and Honddu meet. While away an afternoon at its Royal Welsh Regimental Museum or visit the medieval cathedral, followed by a yummy lunch or dinner in one of its many eateries.
